Ryan Gaylord from Golden, Colorado finished second in his first ever heat race at Highway 92 Speedway near Gearing, Nebraska on Saturday night as he drove the Mr. Badwrench Super Stock Chevrolet. After steady advancement toward the front Ryan made a last lap pass to finish second in the fifteen lap heat race for qualifying position in the main event.
Starting Mid pack in the 50 lap shootout race Gaylord learned fast as he was introduced to three wide racing right off the bat. “I was impressed with his abilities to look ahead and avoid so many accidents,” said proud father Scott Gaylord, “I’ve seen many experienced racers that don’t do that.” Ryan ran in the top ten most of the race when on lap 40 his night ended early as he drove the car into the infield to avoid yet another accident in his path but another car lost control and drove right into the back of Gaylords’ car breaking his axle. “I was clear of the wreck then BAM!” said a disappointed Gaylord, it was obvious he hated to see his night end early with a damaged car.
Darrel Smith, a veteran Super Stock driver and the owner of the Mr. Badwrench Chevrolet said he was impressed with how well Ryan drove in his first Super Stock race.
