Since 1951, a Gaylord has been racing something. It wouldn’t be surprising to see the streak continue past 2151.

Scott Gaylord from Lakewood, Colo., blew a tire and finished 36th driving
the #52 Hooters Casino Chevy in the NASCAR Nationwide Sam’s Town 300 race at
Las Vegas Speedway.

“On lap 67, I was going through corner one full throttle when the right
front tire blew. I slammed into the wall hard enough to see stars. I told
the team that the car was out of the race. I feel so bad for the Means team
that the car is pretty much totalled,” said Gaylord after the wreck.

Scott wasn’t the only Gaylord racing last weekend. On Sunday, Scott and his
wife, Donna, went from the airport upon thier return from Las Vegas directly
to I-76 Speedway in Fort Morgan, Colo., to watch Tripp Gaylord, 14, win his
heat race in the Stock Car Econo class while 19-year-old brother Ryan
finished seventh in the Modified Main Event to finish off the winter series
events.

Scott Gaylord of Lakewood, CO. Finished 32nd in the NASCAR Nationwide series
race
at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana CA. He was driving the #52 Means Chevy.
The race was televised on ESPN 2.

Ryan Gaylord 19, Scott’s son, worked over the wall durring the pit stops as
front tire carrier.

“At about lab 20 of the 150 lap race we lost at least one cylinder and about
1000 rpm on the long straights. That killed our changes for a good finish in
the # 52 Means Chevy”, said Gaylord

Gaylord will be racing again next weekend Feb. 28th in the Sam’s Town “300″
NASCAR Nationwide race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway also on ESPN 2
the NASCAR Nationwide series with veteran driver Scott Gaylord as
well as exposure in the IMCA BST Dirt Modified series
in the Rocky Mountain States with up and coming 19-year-old
developmental driver Ryan Gaylord. This unique opportunity will also
display your company logo on a car racing at I-76 speedway in Fort
Morgan, Colorado with new start up driver 14 year old Tripp Gaylord.

Scott Gaylord, an award winning most popular NASCAR and Sports Car
driver now racing in the NASCAR Nationwide series in the #52 Means
racing car. The Nationwide series has races from coast to coast
with national TV coverage 35 weekends in 2009.

Ryan Gaylord is the top development driver for Joe Bellm racing in
the IMCA BST (Blood Sweat Tears Dirt Modified) series that spans 10 states in the Rocky
Mountain region. Ryan will be racing for the rookie championship
in 2009. Ryan has already earned a win driving in his 1st main
event he competed in. Aside from racing Ryan, an honor roll
student and state semi-finalist varsity soccer player is now
pursuing his college education.

Tripp Gaylord the 14 year old driver sensation will be racing a
stock car at I-76 Speedway in Fort Morgan, Colorado in 2009. He
has already finished 4th in his very first race on dirt in 2008.
Tripp is a go-kart track record holder and winner in the “Iron
Man” carting event in the Northwest. Academically Tripp is also
an honor roll student in the 8th grade. Following in his
brother’s footsteps, Tripp is a competitive soccer player in his
spare time.

It’s not a surprise to see the talent that Gaylord boys have
inherited, along with Scotts racing abilities. Their Mom Donna is
a former sports car champion and record holder; she was an
endurance driver for American Honda in the 80’s. Granddad Les
Gaylord racing career spans 50 years, he race competitively until
a serious accident ended he career, he was 80 years old. Les was
inducted into the Colorado Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2005.

NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown
NASCAR Grand National Division
Irwindale Speedway October 21, 2006

Scott Gaylord, Lakewood, Colo. (No. 00 Oliver Gravity Separators/Denver Seminary Chevrolet), Scott Gaylord Racing finished 9th in the NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown

Gaylord finished fifth in the Friday night qualifying race, but handling problems dogged the team during the main event Saturday night. Still, Scott was able to nab a ninth place finish in this hotly contested, best of the best invitational for the AutoZone West Grand National and Busch series’ top drivers. With the completion of this race, Scott bids bids farewell to long-time sponsor Oliver Gravity Separators, which has been part of his racing program for 20 years.

“It was nice to be able to finish out this season with a top-ten finish,” Scott said. “It was good to be able to cap off a remarkable 20-year partnership with a strong finish in such a competitive race.” Scott is one of only three drivers to compete in all four NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdowns, an honor reserved for the top 15 drivers in each series.

The NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown is considered the “super bowl of short track racing” and was televised live nationally on the SPEED Channel. The depth of the AutoZone West Series enabled the home-standing AutoZone West Series team to win the “team” competition – a race-within-a-race that provides an additional award to the best-performing series overall – for the first time in the event’s four-year history.

#00 FINISHES IN SECOND PLACE AT ALTAMONT; SCOTT GAYLORD WINS POWERADE AWARD, BIDS FAREWELL TO OLIVER

After the Scott Gaylord Oliver Gravity Separators/Denver Seminary Chevrolet qualified 14th, Scott finished the race winning both the POWERADE POWER MOVE OF THE RACE award and the FEATHERLIGHT MOST IMPROVED DRIVER award as the team finished second in the NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series Altamont 200 race at Altamont Motorsports Park on Sunday, October 15th, where the series wrapped up its 2006 season.

Gaylord matched his all-time best mark in the season finale, finishing in the runner-up spot for a fourth time in his career as he prepares to bid farewell to long-time sponsor Oliver Gravity Separators, which has been part of his racing program for 20 years.

Back to the Altamont Race

We were looking forward to returning to Altamont, the half-mile race track located near Tracy, California. “Last time we ran at Altamont in 1998, we finished second,” Scott said, “so it was great to capture another second this time around. There have been a lot of improvements to the facility, and it was good to be racing at another of the country’s fine short tracks. We had a fun race.”

The #00 crew was faced with many mechanical problems, including brakes and handling, that cut into much-needed practice time on this relatively new track. We finally got things pretty close, enough to qualify, even though the car went into an amazing spin that Scott was able to recover from with a fantastic save. Still, those challenges made us start in 14th position.

During the race, Scott just kept on plugging, moving up slowly in the first half of the race, then a bit more aggressively after some chassis adjustments that made the car handle better. Finally in this race the flat tires did not come and the strange little gremlins that crept up and bit us earlier in the year stayed away. By the final 30 laps or so we found ourselves in sixth place with a realistic chance for a top-three finish. “We are very happy with a second-place finish,” Scott said. “It is a great way to finish off the season, a hard-fought second place plus earning both special awards. This race is a sweet season’s farewell gift to Oliver as well.

“We have had a fantastic partnership with Oliver that has lasted a phenomenal 20 years,” Scott said. “Oliver was with me in the beginning of my career, even before I entered my first NASCAR race in 1988. I’m proud to have had the opportunity to represent such a wonderful company, and for our partnership to last so many years has been icing on the cake. In this business, relationships lasting this long are virtually unheard of. I consider myself to be extremely fortunate to have worked with such a fantastic sponsor.”

Scott is sad to see the end of an era when it comes to this longtime relationship, but wishes Oliver complete success as they embark on a major expansion in their Rocky Ford, Colorado, company.

Scott Gaylord of Lakewood, Colo. (No. 00 Oliver Gravity Separators/Denver Seminary Chevrolet) finished seventh in the championship points this year, making this the 12th time he has finished in the top ten in the Scott Gaylord Racing-prepared Chevrolet.

Next Up: NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown

Now the championship has been settled, the top drivers and teams in the NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series are busy preparing for the fourth annual NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdown this week in Southern California. The top 15 AutoZone West Series drivers will face off with the top 15 drivers from the NASCAR Grand National Division, Busch East Series in this year’s prestigious post-season event at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 20-21. The event awards nearly $500,000 to competitors and will be televised live nationally on the SPEED Channel. Gaylord is one of only four series drivers to compete in all three previous NASCAR Toyota All-Star Showdowns.

As for the future, Scott looks forward to the Toyota All-Star Showdown and pulling off that first NASCAR win in tribute to the years of partnership with Oliver. Geoff Burney, who owns the #00 car that Scott races, will continue to partner with Scott and his team as they work to gain new sponsors for the coming year.

The place: Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway The dates: Friday, Oct. 20 and Saturday, Oct. 21 TV: SPEED live Radio: NASCAR Radio on XM Satellite Radio (Channel 144) Posted awards: $500,000 Track layout: Half-mile oval

Scott Gaylord (No. 00 Oliver Gravity Separators/Denver Seminary Chevrolet) avoided cars literally flipping over him, many crashes, and two cut tires — and still managed to capture an 8th place finish in the NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series competition Relocate Here 200 presented by San Bernardino County at California Speedway on Friday, Sept. 1. “This was yet another hot, hot Southern California race this year, with temperatures in the 100’s,” Scott said. “When we started our practice sessions we had some pretty severe tire rubbing on the left front tire that would have surely resulted in a blown tire if not taken care of. We spent a lot of time in that session getting the proper authorization for an additional tire, as each team is limited to a certain number of tires for the race. Once back on the track we did the usual chassis adjustments to get a bit more speed out of the car, but I felt like we were ‘in the ballpark’ right off the bat. Toward the end of the session the car went down one cylinder. When I got back to our pit area, we discovered a burnt plug wire that we changed and secured so it wouldn’t cause problems during the race.” During the second practice session the changes we made to the chassis only seemed to worsen the handling. In the end we went back to where we started and called it good for the qualifying run. Scott ran a great lap during his run, beating his best time thus far by nearly a full second. That time put him 16th in the starting line up. All in all we were pretty pleased as it was a very competitive field, and Scott was faced with qualifying a car that had been radically changed before qualifying. Once the race started Scott did a great job moving up through the field. He liked the way the car was driving and was taking care in passing other cars. When the first yellow flag came out, he felt like he had a left rear tire going down. Luckily for us it was under caution, so he was able to come into the pits, verify and change the flat without losing a lap. He rejoined the field from the back but continued to scoot up through the field, running in the top 15 by the halfway point of the race. The race was plagued with many accidents, most of which seemed to be happening right in front of Scott. A particularly spectacular crash happened when a car flipped in mid-air and threatened to come to rest right on the top of the #00 Oliver Chevrolet. Thank goodness he was able to avoid that “bullet.” By the last 25 laps, Scott had moved up to the fifth position with a pretty strong car. On a restart the top four cars were racing intensely, leaving the door open for Scott to take the lead. Unfortunately, one of the cars in the tangle shot across the track suddenly. Scott slamed on the brakes and locked them up but still caught his left front fender with another car. We felt like we could continue on but once we got back up to speed the left front tire had a pretty significant tire rub, which is dangerous at 170+ miles an hour! The car was still fast even with the body damage, but we couldn’t come in and lose so much track position. Scott just had to ride it out. Then in turn one he heard a loud “pop” and the tire let go. Scott had to nurse the car around the track, taking care so the blown tire would not tear up the body or do any more damage to the car. He got the car to the pits, the crew got the tire changed and back under way but with the race still being green we did go down one lap. This happened with only about 15 laps remaining. We really needed one more caution and some great luck to put us back on the lead lap. Luckily, that happened! With nine laps to go, there was a caution flag, we got the lucky dog and now had a chance to at least get back to the top ten or so. Amazingly we did just that. Scott did a fantastic job of working through traffic all evening, and the crew did great with the scheduled and un-schedueled pit stops. Everyone on the team deserves a big pat on the back for earning an 8th place finish in the race. We all know we had the car to beat! You can see the tape delay on TV: HDNet (Live) SPEED (enhanced replay, Sept. 14, 2:30 p.m. PT) Scott has registered an even 80 career top-10 series finishes. He is sixth on the list among drivers in the modern era (since 1970). Gaylord is the only driver to compete in all 10 AutoZone West Series races that have been held at California Speedway. His best finish there was fourth in 2004. The next event on the NASCAR Grand National Division, AutoZone West Series schedule will be at Thunderhill Raceway in Kyle, Texas, on Sept. 30th.
